David W. Simon

Advises boards and senior executives on governance, risk, and reputation. Teaches and writes on the intersection of law and business.

For three decades, David has advised corporate leaders and boards on complex governance, regulatory, and reputational challenges, often in the context of government enforcement. The work has been international in scope and focused on helping organizations navigate risk and make decisions in moments of uncertainty and pressure.

He also teaches and writes on the intersection of law and business, with a focus on governance, corporate purpose, and the role of lawyers as strategic advisors within organizations. At the University of Wisconsin Law School, he developed and teaches Lawyer as Strategic Business Advisor, a course examining the role of legal counsel in business decision-making and institutional governance.

This academic work is informed by experience advising on high-stakes regulatory and governance matters and reflects a broader interest into how organizations translate purpose into practice and how legal and governance systems shape high-stakes decision-making.
